After last year’s successful and noteworthy achievement, Armenian Catholic Mesrobian High School’s journalism student committee once again organized an inter-scholarly “Hrant Dink” composition contest. The 2nd annual contest, emblem awarding and prize distribution took place on Friday, March 16, 2012 at 7 p.m. in the college’s “Farajian” auditorium. Among the audience were First secretary of the Armenian Embassy of Lebanon, Mr. Vartan Atamian, members of the judging committee, teachers, parents and students.

The welcoming word was delivered by Meghry Cheulmekian on behalf of the organizing student committee. She said: “This contest, dedicated to the memory of intellectual Dink’s 2007 murder, will implant students’ minds with love for the motherland, loyalty towards the Armenian cause and devotion to the national ideology.” She then read the congratulatory address of the editors of “AGOS” newspaper, published in Constantinople.

Mr. Jirayr Tanielian, judge and keynote speaker of the day, affirmed that the “Hrant Dink” composition contest was an opportunity for exploring our national roots and heritage. He mentioned that the new generation will certainly deliver new Dinks, who will become future journalists and editors.

Excerpts from the interview of Mr. Sarkis Seropian, editor of the Armenian section of “AGOS” by the committee’s chairperson, Lory Yeterian were presented.

Finally, certificates were handed to the participants, the emblem was delivered and the prizes were distributed.
