The overall aim of the project is to provide the rehabilitation and life skill development of the youth with fewer opportunities of the Daily Care Center “Aregak” in Gyumri and make their free time more productive by means of organizing different art therapies and cultural as well as linguistic activities with them.

The project also directly aims at enlarging the scope of knowledge of the local youth on European citizenship, get them to know other cultures, to understand that whatever is different is not necessarily wrong, but rather a new field of knowledge one should acquire. The project will actively involve the local youth in creating their own future and building their personal life and the life of the community they live in.

Tasks
The volunteer will work in Gyumri (where the Youth Initiative Centre NGO has its main and regional office). The main tasks of the volunteers will be to organize leisure activities and programs to improve the lives of disabled children at the Center. The volunteers will be involved in planning, preparing materials, implementing and monitoring the success of these activities. They will be highly encouraged to use intercultural methods in their work. The volunteers would be a sort of “ambassador” of Poland and would share their experiences with the people of Armenia. The main focus of volunteers work will be on activities in the center, nevertheless, the volunteers will be also highly encouraged to help with the planning of YIC’s international programs. The volunteer will be free to express his/her preferences regarding levels of involvment in the activities proposed by YIC. The activity will provide the volunteer with an opportunity to work in a new atmosphere simultaneously developing their social and prefessional skills. Besides, the volunteer will have free time at their disposal which will give them chance to carry out additional activities and to spend it the way they would prefer.

The volunteers with highest motivation will be selected.
