Amid Russian restrictions on Armenian exports, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan announced that the first shipment of Armenian roses and vegetables has already been sent to Europe and other international markets.
“They will arrive soon, and then I will say exactly which countries they went to. Not a single product will remain unsold,” Pashinyan said on June 2 during a campaign event in Armenia’s Gegharkunik Province.
A day earlier, Economy Minister Gevorg Papoyan stated that Armenia would expand exports to countries including Greece, Germany, and others.
According to Papoyan, the Ministry of Economy has introduced export support programs for shipments to the European Union and the Middle East, including compensation for transportation expenses and customs duties.
“Exports to the European Union have doubled. Our goal is to quadruple or even quintuple them by the end of the year,” Papoyan said.
The comments come as Russia has intensified its rhetoric and trade restrictions against Armenia ahead of the country’s parliamentary elections.
