American satellite company Maxar Technologies has discovered Turkish F-16 fighter jets in Gabala airbase, Azerbaijan, according to Armenian Defense Ministry representative Artsrun Hovhannisyan said on Twitter.

Six aircraft were located there about a week ago, though the new photo features only four of them.

In late July, Turkey deployed several F-16s to Azerbaijan for the joint TurAz Qartalı-2020 military exercises. Back then, several Turkish Air Force F-16s were filmed at the same location at Ganja International Airport.

At least two F-16s were stationed at Ganja International Airport in Azerbaijan as of October 3, a New York Times analysis of a satellite image showed earlier.

Investigative journalist Christiaan Triebert said back then that the fighter jets in Ganja were likely operated by the Turkish Air Force, alongside a possible CN-235 cargo aircraft.

Kommersant reported in mid-October that a significant number of Turkish servicemen remained in Azerbaijan after the joint drills in summer, to coordinate and direct the planning and execution of the offensive operations against Nagorno-Karabakh.

Also, 18 Turkish infantry fighting vehicles, one multiple launch rocket system, 10 vehicles and up to 34 aircraft (including 6 warplanes, 8 helicopters, up to 20 drones) were left in Azerbaijan for providing military intelligence both in Karabakh and in Armenia.

On September 30, the Armenian side published a video, showing that two Turkish F-16 jets, together with Azerbaijani SU-25 fighters and Turkish Bayraktar surveillance UAVs have taken off from Kyurdamir Air Base in Azerbaijan.
