The 55-year-old woman and the 73-year-old man both died overnight of the coronavirus at the Nork infectious diseases hospital, adding that both suffered from other pre-existing medical conditions, per Arsen Torosyan, Minister of Health. “Doctors did everything to save their lives, but unfortunately they did not succeed,” he added.

The Republic of Armenia has confirmed 17 new coronavirus cases, on Sunday, March 29, now standing at 424, per Armenia’s Ministry of Health.

14 out of the 17 new confirmed cases of the coronavirus are employers of the National Center for Disease Control and Prevention, per Alina Nikoghosyan, Spokesperson for the Ministry of Health.

Out of the 424 total cases, 30 people recovered and 3 patient with underlying health conditions died. The remaining 391 are active cases and are hospitalized, per Alina Nikoghosyan, Spokesperson for the Ministry of Health.

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said on Saturday evening that the situation “remains tense” but is “still considered manageable.” Pashinyan urged Armenians to comply with stringent restrictions on people’s movement that were imposed by the Armenian government on March 26.

On Tuesday, PM Nikol Pashinyan announced a week-long nationwide lockdown, imposing tougher restrictions on public life. All restaurants, cafes, enterprises, shopping centers, places of entertainment have been ordered to close.
